Every useful record answers five questions.
Which kit?
Identify the location, ID and check type.
What was expected?
Name the list, level or condition being checked.
What was found?
Record the useful exception, not just “checked”.
Who owns it?
Give every open action a person and due date.
When is it closed?
Set the next check and confirm the action is complete.
Safe Work Australia’s model Code recommends regular and after-use checks, a signed and dated inventory list, and review of stock, condition, expiry and sterile packaging. Check whether the model Code has legal effect in your jurisdiction.
Use the right record for the job.
This page records the physical kit and its follow-up. Use the contents checklist for the item-level check, the restocking sheet for an order handover, and the training register for first aiders, qualifications and renewal dates. An injury or treatment record is separate again.
Read Safe Work Australia’s model Code, then check the regulator for your state or territory.
